This Chickenray was found grazing on spinifex and buffel grass east of Kumarina in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. They are social creatures that flock together on sandplains wherever grasses are plentiful. If you look carefully you will see two others well camouflaged behind this one. Unlike ordinary chickens, Chickenrays do not scratch in the dirt, preferring instead to glide over it in search of grass seeds.
