With the Pilbara seed collecting season about to start, a new OUTBACK CREATURE has been discovered!
Named "Porcufex", it was found on Mulga Downs station. It has a spikey coat from which long, soft hairs grow, possibly to keep it warm in the winter. Its strong, sharp teeth are kept clean and polished by the sand and grit that it picks up while slowly shuffling along eating rocks.
Somewhat bird-like in their habit, they can be heard eminating a soft, low "trill" as they graze. When threatened, they withdraw their head, feet and tails and look identical to spinifex.
